2 little hooligans turned superheros!

For the past few weeks once the kids are finished with supper they are transformed into SUPERHEROS. With the kids wrapped in baby blankets we run around hiding and roaring at each other. Why roaring? I don’t know, for some reason my son has decided we are going to roar like dinosaurs while we hide and chase each other around?!?!? Hmm.
Anyways, I was beginning to feel guilty. There are so many cute capes out there right now. And every superhero needs a real cape, right? So here is what I came up with. I copied my logo and used some matching fabric scraps to come up with these.

She loves running around and watching it fly in the wind.

While, he is taking his superhero job a little too serious.

country bumpkin bunting

I LOVE bunting. I love any type of bunting, and every style of bunting. I love how it looks at parties as much as I love it hung in the home. You could say I have a minor obsession with it. The problem is, I have no place to hang it and no parties planned. So whats a bunting obsessed girl to do, but this…

take some baling twine, add a few fabric scraps,

and hang it here…

in my farm stand.

Because you know when people are buying my veggies, they so want to look at bunting, right? At least this has gotten me over my bunting obsession, well, for now.

Sorry for the lack of craft tutorials but this is why…

The garden needs to be picked EVERYDAY.
And whatever we don’t eat fresh daily, I am canning, baking, or freezing it.
Plus, I have a little farm stand where I put out some of our garden goodies for others to enjoy. I’m planning on posting about that later. I have to share with you my latest creation with Mod Podge.

And I have been busy baking all of these…

cupcakes in a canning jar

I was asked by Michelle of Mainelyhome to put together a tutorial for my cupcakes in a canning jar. If you get a chance, go check out her blog. She shares with her readers, her love for etsy, good old country living, and the state of Maine. I love reading about all the unusual events that Maine has to offer.

This has been one of my favorites lately, cupcakes in a canning jar. Its great! You can bake, frost and freeze them right in the jar. Whats even greater, my husband can take them to work and just eat them right out of the jar. It is amazing what you can do with canning jars. I’m pretty much convinced that if you can cook it, then you can cook it in a jar!

To get started you will need:
Canning jars ( I prefer to use 1/2 pint, pint jars and jelly jars.)
Cupcake recipe and all the ingredients to go along with it.
Frosting
Non-stick cooking spray.

Pre-heat oven to desired temp and prepare cake mix per recipe.

Spray jars with non-stick cooking spray.

Fill jars 1/3 of the way or a tad bit more. Do not fill more then 1/2 full, as the cupcakes almost double in size.

Bake jars directly on oven racks. They will bake in less time then usual, so keep checking them.

Bake until cake tester comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely.
Use a cake tester to loosen up the cupcake in the middle.

Push piping bag as far down as possible and squeeze in some frosting.

Finish off with more frosting.

And if the kids are around, you know you are going to have to add some sprinkles!
Lots of them!

I like to use the plastic lids. They are easier and safer with the kids.

As you can tell, I didn’t spend time trying to make them cute. The kiddo’s were “helping” mommy and they were not going to wait any longer to dig in. So party planning girls out there, I’m leaving this one to you. Let’s see them on a dessert table! How cute would these be for a kids birthday party?

my first photo shoot

Here is my first photo shoot with a bag I just finished and a pair of wide leg maternity pants refashioned to a shirt. I know, what in the world gave me the idea to do that, I don’t know, I guess that’s just how I roll. Or maybe I can blame it on my major lack of sleep. Either way, that shirt is dang comfortable and I’m thinking its pretty cute too.




OK, so it maybe it wasn’t a real photo shoot. And can never compare to those by Dana or Disney. But hey, don’t I get any credit for taking pictures of this justhadababy4monthsagobody or the fact that it is 5:30am and I am standing on my front porch taking pictures of myself with my automatic timer? What do you think, can pull off wearing the shirt in public?

I was contacted by CSN stores and asked if I would like to do a review on one of their products. Of course, I would LOVE too! So I get to choose what I want to review, how cool is that? The problem is, they have too much to choose from. So here are a few things I came up with that I would like to review. Although the porch is not quit finished yet, we are in need of some new lighting. CSN stores has such a huge selection of LED lighting that I am having a hard time narrowing it down. I did see these tiki torches aren’t they great? I have always loved tiki torches, but they are not the safest with little kids. With these I wouldn’t have to worry.

My littlest girl is now 4 months old and the garden is ready for picking, so it’s time to fill up the freezer with all of her homemade baby food. In the past, I have used my blender and cuisinart, but I have heard such great reviews about the Beaba baby food machine I would love to give this a try!

And lastly, I found this, an ice cream maker… YUMMO! I have wanted to make my own ice cream for the longest time. I’m thinking of all the amazing creations I could make with this baby.

But of course, when I found the ice cream maker, I also found one of these…

We purchased our first home. You know one of those fixer-uppers? That’s an understatement!! To those of you that know us, know what I’m talking about. Our house was built sometime in the 1870’s and was in sad, sad, sad shape. Our realtor suggested we tare it down and start from scratch, but for some reason we saw potential in this old house. Or it was more likely of a case of being young, dumb and in love. While most days starting from scratch would have been the better option, we still see the potential behind all that old rotted wood.

So here I sit, painting away. My goal was to have the house painted by now, but you know how that goes. 3 kids require my attention just as much as this house does. While the majority of the house is covered in new clappboards, we still have a huge amount of old wood that needs to be scrapped, sanded, sealed, primed and painted.
So I better get to work,
AND…
well, here’s to another 3 weeks!!
