I can’t believe it’s already Thursday!
Come on Mommas out there, join in and take some photos with your little ones. I know what you are thinking, I haven’t showered, my clothes are covered in baby food, I look horrible. You know what, that is life! Years down the road from now, you are going to wish you had the photos. So lets go and embrace that camera Momma!!

Who knew hiding in the corn would be so much fun!

Twig flower arrangement tutorial

Have you ever seen the twig arrangement over at The TomKat Studio?

Well, that is where I got the idea to create one of these arrangements. I never would have thought that twigs and fake flowers would look so cute! Painting the flowers was the most time consuming part but after that it was pretty quick.
You will also need some dry twigs and a vase.
Just follow the pictures.

You can skip this part and just twist the metal wire around twigs if you want instead of using the clear stretch cord.

Gather the twigs and place them into the painted vase. I placed a few pebbles into the bottom of my vase. The pebbles give it some weight and also help to keep the twigs in place.

And the finished product.

A new found love with my clothesline

Ever thought of spray painting your clothes pins before? I never did until I saw a post by Dana from MADE the other day. Now why didn’t I think of this of this before!?! Now I have a new found love with my clothesline.

Just one of those days…

that start at 5am with a crying, tired, sick little girl that has a temp.
Luckily, after an insane amount of rice krispy treats are consumed, and 3 episodes of Go Diego, Go!
we get a smile!

Princess Play Tent Bag

Every cute play tent needs an equally cute bag to store it in.

Here is a bag that I made for my nieces play tent. It was very easy and it’s a great way to use up left over material.


I cut the fabric piece about 14″ by 34″ long. I used the edge of the curtain that had a hem for the top of my bag. I sewed the side and bottom shut, but made sure not to sew hem shut. I sewed three of the ties together and strung them through the hem on top of bag. Wanting a place for the daisies to attach to, I sewed two ties on the front of bag.


Now all of this is neatly folded into a bag.

Tutu Tutorial

Here is another tutu I created for the Samster Mommy Tutu Drive. This is one of my favorite tutus. Here are the basic measurements to make one for a 12mo/3T size. To make one smaller or larger just lessen or add a few inches onto the width of the tulle, fabric and elastic.



What you need to make a tutu size 12mo/3T:


18″ of anti-roll elastic that is 3/4″ wide

42″ by 11″ piece of fabric (skirt)

30″ by 5 1/2″ piece of fabric (waist)

60″ by 26″ wide piece of tulle

Flower and ribbons to embellish

1. Embellish fabric for skirt with ribbons. Finish off bottom edge of fabric. My skirt had a wide hem because I used left over material from my play tent to make it.



2. Fold tulle in half and sew together, do not backstitch. Sew using a stitch length of 4. Once finished pull one thread and gather until it is the length of the skirt.





3. Place skirt on top of tulle and sew together. Make sure folded part of tulle and finished edge of skirt are on the bottom.

4. Take the waist piece of fabric and make a large bias strip with it. Bias strip should now measure about 1 1/2″ wide by 30″ long now. Place bias strip onto the top of tutu and sew in place. May need to bunch in places to make the bias strip and tutu the same size.



5. Trim tulle if needed to make a nice clean edge. Take elastic and feed through the opening in waist.



6. Right sides together sew skirt together. Zig-zag or finish stitch on unfinished edge. Just don’t finish stitch on the tulle part. Add a flower and extra ribbons by gluing them onto a pin.

Samster Mommy Tutu Drive
I stumbled upon Samster Mommy the other day and absolutely love what she is doing! She is having a tutu drive for kids who are in the hospital and are seriously ill. Read more about it HERE. Please join in. Think of the smiles on those little girls faces when they receive one.

For two little princesses

When I was at Walmart buying sheets for my first play tent, I also noticed some curtains that I thought would make a beautiful princess tent for my two little girly-girl nieces. Here is what I bought.

I started by seam riping all of the ties off the sheer curtains. Then I used the other curtain to make the top of the tent, by using my tutorial, HERE. Once the top was finished, I attached the sheer curtains to the top. Unfortunately, the tent sides were too short so I had to use the other curtains to make a wide strip of fabric at the bottom of the tent, which actually worked great. I used the ties that I seam ripped off to secure the hula hoop on, and placed a few extra ties on the outside. With a little bit of sheer curtain left I made a little sash to go all around the top of the tent.

A few weeks back I purchased some big gerber daisy flowers at the dollar store. I cut and glued them onto close pins. I used these to keep the doors open and hang inside the tent. But since they are removable the girls can put them where they want and it makes the tent easy to wash.
I just love when my visions turn out nicely. That is not to say, I didn’t spend some quality time with the good old seam ripper.

I cant wait for aunties two little princesses to get this in the mail. I hope they spend hours playing oh so sweetly together, wearing tutu’s and crowns, having a tea party while momma spends her time with the new little one that is soon to arrive.
