Monday was my 32nd birthday and I decided to throw myself a birthday party right in our own backyard. When I started bringing the blankets and pillows outside for the picnic I saw the tractor and trailer by the garden and decided to have our picnic in the trailer. When the kids woke up from their naps and saw where we were going to have the party they were SOOO excited! We ate some yummy grinders from NBVS, and enjoyed some of my homemade carrot cake in a canning jar, how appropriate right? The rest of the night was spent with the kids taking turns driving the tractor and playing in the pumpkin patch.


This was the best birthday party ever!! I am such a lucky momma and wife!

A few gifts I made for my nieces birthday.

A cute little pencil bag for holding all of her school supplies.


And a pencil/ crayon wrap.

A new twist on all of those crayon wraps.
My wrap holds 9 writing instruments and wraps around 3 ring binders, coloring books or school books. Wrap Velcro’s shut and is adjustable.


My new woven labels.

A little over a year ago I ordered 600 woven labels and much to my surprise they are all gone. I cannot believe that I had made that many items in just a little over a year, WOWSERS! When ordering my labels this time, I made a few changes to my previous labels and had a new larger label designed with my logo on it.

They are a bit larger then my other labels and I can think of so many ways to use them. I just couldn’t wait to use them.

embrace the camera {our morning walk}

WOW! Look how many are embracing their cameras, are you one of them?

We start our day with a 3.8 mile walk up the hill. Our little walking group consists of 3 mommas, 6 kids, a single, double and triple stroller. We come armed with as many snacks as it takes to keep our little ones happy.



The views are breathtaking. These walks remind me everyday why I live in the country.


On our way back down the hill there is always a stop at Grampa’s mailbox, where Grampa keeps a little stash of candy for the kids. A piece of candy each, if and only if, they have been good. Yup, a little blackmail! Do what we have to do, right girls?


Our walks are not always picture perfect. Just this week, we may have been spotted pushing our strollers in a complete downpour or out chasing two loose cows.
Thanks girls. Walking with you is the best way to start my day!

More bib sets I am crazy about!

I’m Finally getting caught up on my orders, woo hoo! I’m hoping by the end of the weekend to have most of them finished and ready to be shipped. Also on tap for the weekend, is to get on top of the porch roof and paint the second story of the house. I’m a bit scared because I have to stand on a 8′ ladder, on top of the porch roof, YIKES! I have been putting off painting this part of the house for awhile now. I have been waiting until the hubby was around for the weekend just in case I fell. Wish me luck. Also, some more canning and to do some baking with the second row of carrots that are ready to be picked. And if I have any extra time I am going to start working on a pattern for the casserole carrier. Anyone ever made a real pattern before? I’m not sure where to start, guess I will just wing it. I’m so excited to make another casserole carrier, maybe this time I will keep it for myself!

embrace the camera {6 months old today!}

Yikes, Thursday totally snuck up on me this week!


My littlest girl turns 6 months today. She has the fuzziest little hair and sweetest smile. She loves her brother and sister and they can make her belly laugh like no one else. She still wants her milk every two hours and is far from sleeping through the night. She loves to talk, DAAAADA is her favorite word. She is rolling around like crazy and is even beginning to push with those little toes and move around on that big belly. She is just a love! I wish I could keep her in this stage forever! But I am reminded all to well by her brother and sister that she too will grow up and become a kid someday.


And because I am totally cheating this week ( sorry), here I am, adding on to a post I have already posted with a picture of me and my little 6 month old. Since my posting earlier I have realized that

A. she has her first tooth poking through!!!
and
B. she is not going to take that dang bottle without a battle. BIG THANKS to my sister in laws for trying:) Any suggestions for getting a 6 month old to take a bottle for the first time?

My new obsession is with making coordinating sets. I love pairing plaids, stripes, polka dots and prints together.
Oh, I just LOVE this set! I seriously could not stop staring at it. They would have looked so nice in my blue kitchen, but instead they will be sold at the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago. These are definitely going to be added to my to do list.

I just had to make some bibs using the plaids and stripes too!

What a great set of bibs for a little boy! If I didn’t have an insane amount of bibs already and a lot of orders on my list, my little girl would have a set of these. Have I mentioned my little girl is turning 6 months this week?!? That’s right, time to start the rice cereal!

Oh, and these are pretty too!


Ok, I’m done obsessing over dish towels and bibs sets.

embrace the camera {harvesting the carrots}

Here’s how we spent our day, the whole day…

picking, washing, cutting, and freezing all of these beautiful carrots. While it would have taken me about two hours to get this all done, it took us all day. But I’m trying to teach the kids how to grow and preserve our food. For the most part, they love helping with every aspect of growing and preserving our veggies. Yes, they do get a little bored, cranky, and a little crazy at times, but so don’t I. But I love how washing the carrots in a big tub of water turns into bobbing for carrots or how I would find little nibble marks in almost every carrot. While these memories are not always pretty, they are certainly priceless!




Thanks again Em for the challenge. If it wasn’t for your challenge, I wouldn’t have all of these pictures and stories to share with the kids when they get older.

My little guys tool belt

I had been promising my little guy a tool belt to match daddy’s for awhile now, but with so many orders to fill, that sadly was put last on my list. Finally after he begged and begged for more then 10 minutes, and with a “you promised me” thrown in there, WE decided to make one together. I never sew with the kids around because it is just plain chaos, but with the two girls sleeping I decided to give it a shot. We used a pair of daddy’s old overalls that were headed for the trash. I simply cut off the bib part and turned it into a pouch. I kept the buckles per my sons request and added another plastic buckle from my sewing stash. As you can see, it was very quick and easy to make. A total of 15 minutes was spent making it, but by the look on his face you would have thought I spent hours on it. Oh, I love how easy it is to please my little ones. Please, never change!!







Sewing with him so much fun and I learned that he is quite the little designer. His requests were to have a buckle on the front like daddy’s and to have plenty of pockets for all his tools. I wanted to make a loop to hold his hammer but nope, that was not in HIS design.
I think we may bring out the sewing machine again and sew together, it was a lot of fun!


I think we better make this little girl one of her own, or we are going to have a lot of fights. Don’t you love the boots?!? Its 90 degree’s out and she wants to wear winter boots. It was just not worth the battle!

Destashing

It’s finally time to destash!

I need room for the 50+ yards of fabric I just purchased this weekend.



Here are some of my new fabrics, aren’t they pretty? Oh I just love them!

Needing a place to store all of these I decided to go through all my fabrics and get rid of the ones I no longer use and to part with some of my scraps. I will be listing them in my etsy shop, so if anyone is interested please go check them out. Oh, and I’m only charging for shipping costs and for the box. I’m not looking to make money off these, just looking for a new home for them.


Looking at all those scraps makes me want to keep them! I wish I had the time to make the little doll clothes, key fobs, stuffed owls and wreaths that I was planning on making with them.

Side note: My fabric scraps are all sold, sorry. They actually sold within an hour of posting them on etsy. I guess that is what happens when you post something for free!
